You can be so exquisitely creative while DIY house building your house adding in really useful features that add a little zest into your home. Have you ever wanted something unique and striking that will accent your home?
Mega Secret Trap Door- Remember those old houses that show trap doors built right into the floor? These are not to difficult to make but you have to keep the idea in mind while you are DIY house building your house since you have to cut your floor boards to accommodate your trap door. And building a safe interior that leads into your secret chamber.
Toy Cubby
Stealth Wall Port- Hide valuable items in a stealth wall port. These little cubicles are great to conceal just about anything. You can even customize to fit a small jewelry or money safe or even a file cabinet inside built in a box fashion. And they are usually placed inside an interior wall framing by adding pieces of cross 2 x 4's to form a box.
Hidden Revolving Cabinet - These are truly unique and you can make them as small or large in size as you prefer designed similar to the mechanics behind a Lazy Susan. Cubicles that revolve around when rotated by hand and are placed inside a wall or even inside an inside wall of your walk in closet. Concealed and hidden.
Clandestine Candle Cubbies - This style of cabinet doesn't have to be reserved only for candles. I call it a candle cubby since I like candles but you can stash anything you like, collectibles, favorite books, candy hide if you have children candy seems to vanish faster than gold! This is similar to a stealth wall port but smaller and I usually keep a shoe box full of reserve candles. A snazzy decorating idea, you could decorate the inside of your cubbies add in a couple of small shelves and keep the door open of your cubbies and use it to accent your home.
Secret Drawer in a Wall - Now this secret drawer is different since it's actually a drawer and not a cabinet. And has to be placed in an area were your house design accounts for a small area of unutilized space that is completely closed. Like say under a stair case or in a closet. Since drawers are longer in length than most secret cabinets, you need deeper enclosed spaces for drawers. A drawer or drawers like this are wonderful to keep your prescription medication or anything that would be a safety issue in if you have children. And is best to add in designs for a secret drawer while you are diy house building.
Secret Bed - Sounds a bit funny to have a bed that folds up into a wall but the functionality of it is awesome. For a twin bed, you would need a thicker interior wall so keep this in mind while you are DIY House building. Account for the depth and the width when you are spacing your studs, in fact I recommend you use 2 x 12 boards instead of studs throughout the whole length of the wall. And you do want your interior wall to be 14 inches thick to accommodate a twin size mattress and a 3/4 inch cut to fit piece of plywood used as a bed board for your twin mattress to rest on. Since your wall will be 14 inches thick, maybe you want to utilize all that extra space aside of your secret bed. So maybe you can build a nice bookcase into the wall just down from the secret bed. Interesting!
